The first part of Date A Bullet: Hibiki Higoromo, better known as, Empty, is an amnesiac young girl. She wakes up in the neighboring world, where she encounters Tokisaki Kurumi. In order to kill the mysterious girl, Kurumi leads Empty to a school. When arriving at the school, a number of girls, known as semi-spirits, gather together. Now then, a new battle begins.

Ethel is a 60-year-old psychoanalyst who chose to access documents declassified by the Uruguayan goverment to know the identity of the perpetrators of the death of her husband. His death occured on August 17th 1961 at a University ceremony where Che Guevara delivered one of his first speeches after the revolutionary triumph of the Cuban revolution. The bullet that killed a history teacher was considered a failed attack against Che Guevara planned by the CIA.

Vice detective Bob Hightower finds his ex-wife murdered and daughter kidnapped by a cult. Frustrated by the botched official investigations, he quits the force and infiltrates the cult to hunt down the leader with the help of the cult’s only female victim escapee, Case Hardin.

Jeff Wilkes is a doctor who has a phobia of dead people, orders five limes with his vodka tonic, and is a "Scuzz" B-movie freak. New to L.A., he answers an ad for a roommate and meets Aron Presley, a young man who believes he is Elvis reincarnated. Confronted with the fact that his own reincarnation is impossible, since he was alive when Elvis died, Aron calmly answers, "In L.A., you create your own reality." After a bizarre interview to be a roommate, Jeff moves in with Aron, and falling prey to Aron's plan, gets blackmailed into an elaborate scheme filled with drugs, sex and blue suede shoes.
